David Piltch is one of the all time great bassists and human beings. should be a total hoot.

also “Listen to the music”— me on two new Doobie Brothers tracks, “Don’t Ya Mess With Me” and “Oh Mexico”. after growing up listening to “The Captain & Me”… it was a delight to work with John Shanks and do my best Billy Payne impressions with Tom Johnston on those classic vocals!!!

until next time….

mid-2021

OK so I don’t update this enough.

look for a brand new Band Of Other Brothers record featuring the original cast of characters- Jeff Coffin (sax), Will Lee (bass), Nir Felder (guitar) and Keith Carlock (drums)— to be released AUGUST 13th on Ear Up Records. this offering is entitled “LOOK UP!” and contains and all-new set of exciting and engaging original tunes, including three from Will Lee— one which features a solo from guest Stanley Clarke! Will also sang a tune I wrote for this one, called “Right Now Blues.” I’ve also got a compositional tribute to the late great Chuck Loeb called “Chuckles” that sports a vibes appearance from the incredible Nick Mancini. and… we’re thrilled this time to have had John Paterno on board to mix and master, just before he set off to record for two months with GOVT MULE. look for this fun new recording-we had fun doing it!

come on out on Friday evenings, if you’re in the L.A. area (or come to L.A. if you’re not here!)— we’ve opened things up quite a bit and there’s a super fun outdoor vibe where I’m playing at the revamped Johnny’s West Adams with pals Sean Hurley on bass, Steve Ferrone on drums, Greg “Gee Mack” Lawrence on the guitar and guests like Kirk Fletcher, Dorian Holley, Woody Mankowski, Glenn Morrisette and more. it’s really been a blast.

keep staying safe and smart out there. thanks for checking in.
